TOPIC: Praise Him, Praise Him
TEXT: Psalm 115:12-18 (KJV)
12 The Lord hath been mindful of us: he will bless us; he will bless the house of Israel; he will bless the house of Aaron.
13 He will bless them that fear the Lord, both small and great.
14 The Lord shall increase you more and more, you and your children.
15 Ye are blessed of the Lord which made heaven and earth.
16 The heaven, even the heavens, are the Lord's: but the earth hath he given to the children of men.
17 The dead praise not the Lord, neither any that go down into silence.
18 But we will bless the Lord from this time forth and for evermore. Praise the Lord.
KEY VERSE
“The dead praise not the LORD, neither any that go down into silence.”
(Psalm 115:17)
DCLM Daily Manna Sunday 28 May 2023 MESSAGE
Redeemed and righteous children of God engage in the twin activities of praising the Lord for His great works and in preaching the gospel in obedience to the great commission. We lift up our voices in praises to God as we consider His vast creation replete with glory and splendour. His eternal salvation through Christ for us is simply beyond description. These spur us on to preach to the unsaved that they might partake of His great salvation.
The psalmist points out that it is compelling that we press forward with these occupations for two reasons. First, God desires that we draw the attention of the unbelievers to the fact that He created the universe. He designed the earth for humans. Second, the inspired writer lays a foreboding urgency of service on the living saying, “The dead praise not the LORD, neither any that go down into silence”.
God has put it in the hearts of leaders and assemblies of every generation of believers to understand that life is too short for serious evangelists to drag their feet concerning seeking the lost. We must go by God’s schedule clearly declared in the Bible: “Preach the word; be instant in season, out of season”.
The psalmist’s charge to believers to serve the Lord while alive because those in the grave cannot do so is especially relevant for our present generation. The proliferation of false teachings and devastating effects of global socioeconomic uncertainties and pandemics place a great burden on us, end-time people, to reach the world with the gospel of life and hope. The Bible We must show them how to be reconciled unto God through salvation in Jesus Christ, the Giver of hope.
BIBLE IN ONE YEAR: 1 Samuel 15-16
