DCLM Daily Manna Thursday 10 August 2023 – A Worthy Testimony

DCLM Daily Manna Thursday 10 August 2023  TOPIC:  A Worthy Testimony TEXT:  Ruth 3:8-11 (KJV) 8 And it came to pass at midnight, that the man was afraid, and turned himself: and, behold, a woman lay at his feet. 9 And he said, Who art thou? And she answered, I am Ruth thine handmaid: spread therefore thy skirt over thine handmaid; for thou art a near kinsman. 10 And he said, Blessed be thou of the Lord, my daughter: for thou hast shewed more kindness in the latter end than at the beginning, inasmuch as thou followedst not young men, whether poor or rich. 11 And now, my daughter, fear not; I will do to thee all that thou requirest: for all the city of my people doth know that thou art a virtuous woman. KEY VERSE “And now, my daughter, fear not; I will do to thee all that thou requirest: for all the city of my people doth know that thou art a virtuous woman.”  (Ruth 3:11) DCLM Daily Manna Thursday 10 August 2023 MESSAGE Challenges and adverse conditions are common experiences o

DCLM Daily Manna Monday 31 July 2023 – The Courage to Cross Over

DCLM Daily Manna Monday 31 July 2023 TOPIC: The Courage to Cross Over TEXT:  Joshua 1:1-9 (KJV) KEY VERSE “Have not I commanded thee? Be strong and of a good courage; be not afraid, neither be thou dismayed: for the LORD thy God is with thee whithersoever thou goest.”  (Joshua 1:9) DCLM Daily Manna Monday 31 July 2023 MESSAGE The Battle of Waterloo was fought on 18th June 1815 between Napoleon’s French Army and a coalition led by the Duke of Wellington and Marshal Blücher. It was a decisive battle of its age, which concluded a war that had raged for about 23 years. It was at Waterloo in Belgium, where Napoleon Bonaparte suffered defeat at the hands of the Duke of Wellington, ending the Napoleonic era of European domination. Joshua also had a challenging task of taking Israel to the Promised Land. Before now, he had gone to wars at the instance of Moses’ commands. They had crossed the Red Sea by the stretching of Moses Rod, but here was a Jordan to cross, and the wall of Jericho

DCLM Daily Manna Sunday 30 July 2023 – Unhelpful Complaints

DCLM Daily Manna Sunday 30 July 2023 TOPIC: Unhelpful Complaints TEXT:  2 Kings 3:1-10 (KJV) KEY VERSE “And the king of Israel said, Alas! that the LORD hath called these three kings together, to deliver them into the hand of Moab!” (2 Kings 3:10) DCLM Daily Manna Sunday 30 July 2023 MESSAGE An anonymous quote rightly says, “Murmuring is an outward manifestation of an inward lawlessness and rebellion against a holy God”. The quote typifies Jehoram, the king of Israel, who allied himself with the kings of Judah and Edom, to fight Mesha, the king of Moab who had rebelled against Jehoram. The king of Israel had obtained the assistance of the kings of Judah and Edom to war against Moab. Unfortunately for them, while on their seven days trip to the battlefield, they ran out of water for the host and their cattle. The king of Israel lost hope, having no relationship with God. He lamented the distress and danger they found themselves. Despite inviting two other kings to help, he was i

DCLM Daily Manna Saturday 29 July 2023 – Unconditional Love

Image
DCLM Daily Manna Saturday 29 July 2023  TOPIC:  Unconditional Love KEY VERSE: “I love the LORD, because he hath heard my voice and my supplications” (Psalm 116:1). TEXT: Psalm 116:1-6 (KJV) 1 I love the Lord, because he hath heard my voice and my supplications. 2 Because he hath inclined his ear unto me, therefore will I call upon him as long as I live. 3 The sorrows of death compassed me, and the pains of hell gat hold upon me: I found trouble and sorrow. 4 Then called I upon the name of the Lord; O Lord, I beseech thee, deliver my soul. 5 Gracious is the Lord, and righteous; yea, our God is merciful. 6 The Lord preserveth the simple: I was brought low, and he helped me. DCLM Daily Manna Saturday 29 July 2023 MESSAGE It is generally accepted that love is blind and should be unconditional. We are not to love a person because of what we get from him. It is no longer considered to be pure and sincere if a show of love is a response to one’s benefactor. While this may be true,

DCLM Daily Manna Friday 28 July 2023 – The Next Generation

Image
DCLM Daily Manna Friday 28 July 2023  TOPIC:  The Next Generation TEXT:  Judges 2:6-10 (KJV) 6 And when Joshua had let the people go, the children of Israel went every man unto his inheritance to possess the land. 7 And the people served the Lord all the days of Joshua, and all the days of the elders that outlived Joshua, who had seen all the great works of the Lord, that he did for Israel. 8 And Joshua the son of Nun, the servant of the Lord, died, being an hundred and ten years old. 9 And they buried him in the border of his inheritance in Timnathheres, in the mount of Ephraim, on the north side of the hill Gaash. 10 And also all that generation were gathered unto their fathers: and there arose another generation after them, which knew not the Lord, nor yet the works which he had done for Israel. KEY VERSE “And also all that generation were gathered unto their fathers: and there arose another generation after them, which knew not the LORD, nor yet the works which he had done

DCLM Daily Manna Thursday 27 July 2023 – Faith That Works

Image
DCLM Daily Manna Thursday 27 July 2023 TOPIC: Faith That Works TEXT:  Luke 17:11-19 (KJV) KEY VERSE “And when he saw them, he said unto them, Go shew yourselves unto the priests. And it came to pass, that, as they went, they were cleansed.”  (Luke 17:14) DCLM Daily Manna Thursday 27 July 2023 MESSAGE In human relationships, trust is based on physical evidence. People must have something tangible to hold on to before they can believe and act on a promise or an order. When you transact a business and have made payment, you will require a receipt, which is your proof of payment and what assures you that the goods will be delivered. Your receipt is your faith in the dealer and if he fails to perform, you have something in hand to hold against him before the law. In the spiritual realm, faith works differently. The lepers had faith in Jesus’ ability to heal them of their disease. This was why they came to Him in the first place; but their unquestioning obedience to the words of Jesus

DCLM Daily Manna Wednesday 26 July 2023 – Offering Thanksgiving

Image
DCLM Daily Manna Wednesday 26 July 2023 TOPIC: Offering Thanksgiving TEXT:  Exodus 15:1-11 (KJV) KEY VERSE “Then sang Moses and the children of Israel this song unto the LORD, and spake, saying, I will sing unto the LORD, for he hath triumphed gloriously: the horse and his rider hath he thrown into the sea.”  (Exodus 15:1) DCLM Daily Manna Wednesday 26 July 2023 MESSAGE It is natural for one who has received great favours to return to show appreciation and express his gratitude. This appreciation can be demonstrated in various forms and ways but it must be seen to be commensurate to a large extent with the favour received. To fail to return thanks is to show that one does not appreciate the favour received. This attitude will, of course, block the possibility of receiving other favours from the giver. Moses and the children of Israel sang unto the Lord to show their appreciation for their miraculous deliverance from the Egyptian captivity. For more than 400 years, the children

DCLM Daily Manna Tuesday 25 July 2023 – Don’t Play God!

Image
DCLM Daily Manna Tuesday 25 July 2023  TOPIC:  Don’t Play God! TEXT:  Job 22:1-11 (KJV) KEY VERSE “Then Eliphaz the Temanite answered and said, Is not thy wickedness great? and thine iniquities infinite?”  (Job 2:1,5) DCLM Daily Manna Tuesday 25 July 2023 MESSAGE The danger of too much learning and knowledge not being moderated is that it can make one arrogant. It makes one assume every other person is wrong in their views and that you alone have the correct answers and solutions to every issue. He craves to be given attention, consulted and heard at all times. Such a person does not have regard for other persons and often feels he is above all. Eliphaz was not pleased with Job’s argument because he felt he knew better and had superior arguments that would convict Job of his guilt. He levelled some accusations that were so direct at Job as if he was an eyewitness. He assumed the role of God and, therefore, came into the scene as a self-appointed adjudicator. God would later reb

DCLM Daily Manna Monday 24 July 2023 – Don’t Let Them Break You

Image
DCLM Daily Manna Monday 24 July 2023 TOPIC:  Don’t Let Them Break You TEXT:  Psalm 119:149-160 (KJV) KEY VERSE “Many are my persecutors and mine enemies; yet do I not decline from thy testimonies.” (Psalm 119:157) DCLM Daily Manna Monday 24 July 2023 MESSAGE The strategy of the enemy during a conflict is to determine the opponent’s breaking point or weak point, target it and continue to hammer on it until he caves in and surrenders. This has been used in different forms and modes to bring down the resistance of an otherwise formidable enemy. King David, who himself was a war general and strategist, perfectly understood this approach employed by the enemy. He knew that the numerous enemies and traitors that confronted him had just one aim in mind: to break his resolve in God and bring him into defeat. It was for this reason that he made up his mind not to give up the confidence he had in God and in His word no matter the number of the enemies that antagonised him. READ RCCG Open

DCLM Daily Manna Sunday 23 July 2023  TOPIC:  Don’t Be a Disgraceful Christian TEXT:  Ezekiel 16:44-52 (KJV) KEY VERSE “Thou also, which hast judged thy sisters, bear thine own shame for thy sins that thou hast committed more abominable than they…”  (Ezekiel 16:52) DCLM Daily Manna Sunday 23 July 2023 MESSAGE Many years ago, a man wanted to play in the Imperial Orchestra, but he could not play a note. Since he was a person of great wealth and influence, he demanded to be allowed to join the orchestra so that he could perform in front of the king. The conductor agreed to let him sit in the second row of the orchestra. Even though he could not read music, he was given a flute and when a concert would begin, he would raise his instrument, pucker his lips and move his fingers. He went through all the motions of playing but never made a sound. This deception went on for two years. Then one day, a new conductor took over the orchestra. DCLM Daily Manna Saturday 22 July 2023 – Wealth and Heaven

Image
DCLM Daily Manna Saturday 22 July 2023 TOPIC: Wealth and Heaven TEXT:  Mark 10:17-27 (KJV) KEY VERSE “And when he was gone forth into the way, there came one running, and kneeled to him, and asked him, Good Master, what shall I do that I may inherit eternal life?”  (Mark 10:17) DCLM Daily Manna Saturday 22 July 2023 MESSAGE Robert Arthington lived in a single room, cooked his own meals and shared his friendship with students who were in need. Yet he gave tremendous amounts of money during his lifetime to Christian missions. When he died, his estate was worth about five million dollars, which he willed to missions. Arthington was determined to make that kind of self-denial the pattern for his life. From our text, a rich young man came to Jesus to ask what he must do to inherit eternal life. Jesus first gave him the basic requirements. He hastily concluded that he has met those conditions. Jesus knew what his problem was – his trust in riches. He then asked him to go sell all he h

DCLM Daily Manna Friday 21 July 2023 – The Impact of Faith

Image
DCLM Daily Manna Friday 21 July 2023 TOPIC:  The Impact of Faith TEXT:  Luke 17:1-10 (KJV) KEY VERSE And the Lord said, If ye had faith as a grain of mustard seed, ye might say unto this sycamine tree, Be thou plucked up by the root, and be thou planted in the sea; and it should obey you. (Luke 17:6) DCLM Daily Manna Friday 21 July 2023 MESSAGE When Hudson Taylor went to China, he made the voyage on a sailing vessel. As it neared the channel between the southern Malay Peninsula and the island of Sumatra, the missionary heard an urgent knock on his stateroom door. He opened it, and there stood the captain of the ship. “Mr. Taylor,” he said, “we have no wind. We are drifting toward an island where the people are heathen, and I fear they are cannibals”. “What can I do?” asked Taylor. “I understand that you believe in God. I want you to pray for wind”. “All right, Captain, I will, but you must set the sail”. “Why? That’s ridiculous! There’s not even the slightest breeze. Besides, t

DCLM Daily Manna Thursday 20 July 2023 – Deadly Friendship

Image
DCLM Daily Manna Thursday 20 July 2023 TOPIC: Deadly Friendship TEXT:  2 Chronicles 22:1-12 (KJV) KEY VERSE “And the destruction of Ahaziah was of God by coming to Joram: for when he was come, he went out with Jehoram against Jehu the son of Nimshi, whom the LORD had anointed to cut off the house of Ahab.” (2 Chronicles 22:7) DCLM Daily Manna Thursday 20 July 2023 MESSAGE There is danger in befriending someone who does not reflect your values in life. Such friendship is risky. Our text reveals the bitter end of Ahaziah the king of Judah. He met his death when he went to Jezreel to visit Joram the son of Ahab. During the visit, it happened that God, through Jehu, was executing judgment on Joram that same day. Ahaziah was killed in that incident. This friendship dates back to the days of Jehoshaphat, the righteous king of Judah who joined affinity with wicked Ahab and Jezebel that nearly ended his life prematurely. He exposed the royal household of Judah to the idolatrous kings

DCLM Daily Manna Wednesday 19 July 2023 – Retreat

DCLM Daily Manna Wednesday 19 July 2023 TOPIC: Retreat TEXT:  Isaiah 26:12-21 (KJV) KEY VERSE “Come, my people, enter thou into thy chambers, and shut thy doors about thee: hide thyself as it were for a little moment, until the indignation be overpast.”  (Isaiah 26:20) DCLM Daily Manna Wednesday 19 July 2023 MESSAGE Perhaps one of the most famous retreats in military history was the evacuation of Dunkirk, also known as Operation Dynamo in 1940. Germany invaded France on May 10, 1940, as well as the Low Countries, so Britain sent its British Expeditionary Force to France to help stop the Nazis’ advance. Soon, they were pushed back to the beaches of Dunkirk along with the Belgian and French troops. What Churchill thought would be a rescue of only 20,000 to 30,000 men ended up with 338,000 troops all rescued in nine days. The successful evacuation became a great morale booster that helped Britain fight better in the summer of 1940. France was eventually liberated and the Germans we

DCLM Daily Manna Tuesday 18 July 2023 – A Perfect Heart

Image
DCLM Daily Manna Tuesday 18 July 2023  TOPIC:  A Perfect Heart TEXT:  Psalm 101:1-8 (KJV) KEY VERSE “I will behave myself wisely in a perfect way. O when wilt thou come unto me? I will walk within my house with a perfect heart.”  (Psalm 101:2) DCLM Daily Manna Tuesday 18 July 2023 MESSAGE The average cost of a heart transplant, including the need for immunosuppressant drugs after the surgery, is about $864,700. Yet, the best heart transplant a man can receive, comes from God and costs him nothing; and the new heart will never fail. Walking before God with a perfect heart is an ideal decision. It is the best thing a heaven-bound believer should aspire and pray for at all times. This psalm is reflective of the psalmist’s deep-seated affection towards God and the cherished desire to continue a lifelong unbroken fellowship with Him. DCLM Daily Manna Monday 17 July 2023 – Becoming a Perfect Man To think of walking within our house with a perfect heart is the noblest thing a belie

DCLM Daily Manna Monday 17 July 2023 – Becoming a Perfect Man

Image
DCLM Daily Manna Monday 17 July 2023  TOPIC:  Becoming a Perfect Man TEXT:  Ephesians 4:11-16 (KJV) KEY VERSE “Till we all come in the unity of the faith, and of the knowledge of the Son of God, unto a perfect man, unto the measure of the stature of the fulness of Christ.” (Ephesians 4:13) DCLM Daily Manna Monday 17 July 2023 MESSAGE Apostle Paul’s yearning and aspiration was to raise up a body of believers who would be ready to walk worthy of their calling and continue to grow in grace until they have attained the full stature of Christlikeness with maturity. The apostle’s writings and prayers for the brethren reveal his commitment to getting the young Gentile believers strong and standing in Christ. From the passage before us, the perfection of the saints in Christ is not a one-man business. Paul emphasised the role of ministers and ministries given to us to help mature and develop the saints. No individual or Christian assembly can downplay these roles and functions if we mus

DCLM Daily Manna Sunday 16 July 2023 – Victory in Battles

DCLM Daily Manna Sunday 16 July 2023 TOPIC: Victory in Battles TEXT:  Judges 3:12-31 (KJV) KEY VERSE “So Moab was subdued that day under the hand of Israel. And the land had rest fourscore years.” (Judges 3:30) DCLM Daily Manna Sunday 16 July 2023 MESSAGE In the sixteenth century, there were close to seventy wars involving the nations and states of Europe. The Danes fought the Swedes. The Poles fought the Teutonic Knights. The Ottomans fought the Venetians. The Spanish fought the French, and so on. If there was a pattern to the endless conflicts, it was that battles overwhelmingly involved neighbours. Our passage of reflection this day, tells us of the children of Israel doing evil again in the sight of the Lord and He using the scourge of the Moabites, under King Eglon, to punish them for eighteen years. It was a long and tedious servitude under a vicious nation. While this oppression prevailed, Israel cried unto the Lord for mercy and deliverance. He heard and granted them mir

DCLM Daily Manna Saturday 15 July 2023  TOPIC:  You Are Not Alone KEY VERSE “Thus saith the LORD of hosts, the God of Israel, of Ahab the son of Kolaiah, and of Zedekiah the son of Maaseiah, which prophesy a lie unto you in my name; Behold, I will deliver them into the hand of Nebuchadrezzar king of Babylon; and he shall slay them before your eyes” (Jeremiah 29:21). TEXT: Jeremiah 29:20-23 (KJV) 20 Hear ye therefore the word of the Lord, all ye of the captivity, whom I have sent from Jerusalem to Babylon: 21 Thus saith the Lord of hosts, the God of Israel, of Ahab the son of Kolaiah, and of Zedekiah the son of Maaseiah, which prophesy a lie unto you in my name; Behold, I will deliver them into the hand of Nebuchadrezzar king of Babylon; and he shall slay them before your eyes; 22 And of them shall be taken up a curse by all the captivity of Judah which are in Babylon, saying, The Lord make thee like Zedekiah and like Ahab, whom the king of Babylon roasted in the fire; 23 Becaus

DCLM Daily Manna Friday 14 July 2023 – Like a Palm Tree

Image
DCLM Daily Manna Friday 14 July 2023  TOPIC:  Like a Palm Tree TEXT:  Judges 1:9-20 (KJV) KEY VERSE “And they gave Hebron unto Caleb, as Moses said: and he expelled thence the three sons of Anak.” (Judges 1:20) DCLM Daily Manna Friday 14 July 2023 MESSAGE The palm tree is one of God’s natural gifts to man that symbolizes strength, victory, triumph, peace, fruitfulness and durability. When the Bible talks about the upright, they are sometimes likened to the palm tree, because of the versatility and nobility of the plant. There are few forest species in existence that combine these qualities all at once. Palm trees easily outlive several generations of men. The Lord made His servant Caleb to endure like a palm tree. After his unwavering walk with the Lord in the books of Numbers and Joshua, we find him again in the book of Judges. With his faith in the God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob still intact after the Lord Himself had testified to his fidelity, Caleb yet enjoyed the fulfilme

DCLM Daily Manna Thursday 13 July 2023 – Rejoicing All the Way

DCLM Daily Manna Thursday 13 July 2023 TOPIC: Rejoicing All the Way Text:  Matthew 5:10-12 (KJV) 10 Blessed are they which are persecuted for righteousness’ sake: for theirs is the kingdom of heaven. 11 Blessed are ye, when men shall revile you, and persecute you, and shall say all manner of evil against you falsely, for my sake. 12 Rejoice, and be exceeding glad: for great is your reward in heaven: for so persecuted they the prophets which were before you. KEY VERSE “Rejoice, and be exceeding glad: for great is your reward in heaven: for so persecuted they the prophets which were before you.”  (Matthew 5:12) DCLM Daily Manna Thursday 13 July 2023 MESSAGE The world does not understand why the faith of Christ’s disciples is not shipwrecked in the ocean of persecution. Instead, these believers rejoice. Three factors account for this joy. First, the Lord says they should rejoice under such circumstances. So they obey Him. Second, He has revealed to them the ineffable glory awaitin
